Artist's Comments

Leonardo Rossini, businessman, club owner, chess master par excellence.

I adore working with him. There is nothing I don't love about this picture, either. Done with ink and watercolor.

Done as promotion for the upcoming graphic novel The Tempest, to be put online in January 2009.

More promos coming, kiddos.

Oh! Oh! Oh! I love! Love! Love it!! The city lights out the window are beautiful, and oh he's so cool! (Except for the smoking! Doesn't he know it'll kill him?!) For some reason it gives me a batman feel - a very good one! Oooohhh I can't WAIT for Luke's promo!!

*claps* Yay! You are so excited!

Thanks, I think this came out perfectly. And he IS so cool, and no he doesn't care if smoking is "bad" for him, he will have his vices and you can do nothing about it.

And I'm glad it gives you a dark Gotham-like feel, that was part of the ambiance. Well, not Batman, per se, but you know, the dark and creepy part.

And Luke is in the works, don't you worry! :D

this is wonderful, sort of reminds me of Juan Gris' "Man in the cafe". your style makes me think of a sophisticated comic book! (which is meant as a compliment) absolutely flawless image, i love the buildings out of the window.

I have no actually seen anything by Juan Gris, but now I am inspired to go and google him! Do you have anything to recommend?

Thank you for the high compliment! It's actually going to be part of a sophisticated comic book, so it's a good thing it looks the part!

And, if I may return the gratitude, thank you for looking at the image well, I appreciate your... uh... well, appreciation!

Oh my god!!! My soul is surely lost! It's amazing! Tell Anne De Fleurs how much I adore her work!
:iconharlemstride:
Oh dear. I figured you might cave in on this ;)

He's a handsome bugger, even if he's not the nicest man in the world.

i don't have anything to recommend really, sorry, i don't know an awful lot about him but i'm using synthetic cubism as my main influence for my current art project so i did a bit of an analysis of that particular piece and briefly researched his work haha.. maybe that is why i related your work to his, cubism on the brain..! :]
:iconharlemstride:
I just looked it up and you know, it IS the same pose... minus the cubist part, heh. Though I guess this has a lot of cubes in the background?

And cubism on the brain isn't the worst thing ever, I guess.

Anyway, good eye!
