Artist's Comments

I love Mathieu, maybe most of all. This one hurt the most.

Bio:

Name: Sergeant Mathieu Emile Favreau
Position: Sergeant Command of Charlie Squad
DOB: February 12, 1895
Place of Birth: Philadelphia, PA, USA
Hair/Eye Color: Dark Brown/Blue
Blood Type: A-
Joined up: August 4, 1912
Background: Mathieu grew up three houses down from Lucky and Marc in the same stretch of row homes along the Delaware River. While the other boys at school got into baseball and catching river snakes over the summers, Mathieu preferred to read quietly, and from the time he was able to write began to try his hand at poetry. His family was French by descent, with a few other mixes, but he grew up bilingual like his friend Lucky. As soon as he was able, he learned to read in both languages, and devoured everything from Hugo to Baudelaire. Eventually he took a shine to those in the realm of Keats and Tennyson and became a splendid poet.

Always very calm, Mathieu was a hopeful man who quietly inspired others around him to their best simply by being himself. He made a surprisingly good fit with the army, and joined at the same time Marc and Lucky did, and moved up the ranks not with a sword rattle, but with a gentle understanding of men and an even hand. He was, if there could be one, the heart of the Platoon, acting as ballast in the turmoil, and encouraging those around him to keep their hopes alive.

Okay, this really stumped me for a comment cause it is so awesome that I just don't know what to say.

Oh, the eyes...

(... that may have been a small swoon.)
:iconharlemstride:
Yes, I think all of us feel that way.

Oh, our warrior poet boy.
